Newstead Public Library

HHL Architects designed this new public library facility for the Town of Newstead to replace the current antiquated Denio Library. The new location is on the historic Main Street of the village center of Akron. The educational focus of the library is children and technology. The design represents the integration of many passive energy elements in an effort to provide a sustainable structure, which also fits well within the historic "urban" context of a traditional rural downtown street.

The interior space is intended to be open, daylit and flexible. Working with Steven Winters Associates, we designed the facility considering the LEED rating system of the U.S. Green Building Council.
