Buffalo & Erie County Historical Society

A significant element along the northeast edge of the Frederick Law Olmsted designed Delaware Park, the Pan-American Building (Buffalo & Erie County Historical Society), the only remaining structure from the 1901 Pan-American Exposition and a National Historic Landmark. HHL Architects initially developed a Master Plan for the Museum which assessed the impact of the client's requirements for additional space and evaluated a number of options to meet those requirements.

Expansion needs for artifact storage and display were met through restoration of a nearby, off-site facility (Resource Center), and administrative requirements were satisfied with the acquisition and renovation of the adjacent Julia Boyer Reinstein Center.

Recent projects include the tile roof replacement in kind, historic portico restoration and reconstruction and restoration of the monumental marble stair and retaining wall.
